Ann Meade Daniel
Ann Meade Daniel has led the formation of Gardens for Heroes by learning from internationally recognized experts in science, research, design and philanthropy within the emerging field of therapeutic green space. She then assembled these leaders as the organization’s advisory board and developed standard operating procedures and key infrastructure to launch the organization. Today, Gardens for Heroes is building The Therapeutic Garden Model for veterans, their families and caregivers.
Prior to Ann Meade’s leadership in Gardens for Heroes, she had been a strategic planner for clients in the nonprofit and private sectors. She began her career as a brand strategist in award-winning advertising agencies where she worked on their largest accounts, including Nike, Microsoft, Kia, and DirecTV. She left her agency career to become a consultant where she continued to work on flagship brands, including Johnson & Johnson, Charles Schwab and Hanes.
Ann Meade graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, where she studied architecture and design. She had a private garden in New York City and today maintains a modest garden in Arnold, Maryland, where she personally experienced the benefits in healing. Her father served in the Army, and her father-in-law served in the Navy. It is this service and the service and sacrifice of generations of veterans, their families and caregivers that inspire her leadership and commitment.
